Street dwellers don't have a hold on the government land, which results in unhygienic looking temporary structures covered with discarded plastic and unused metal scrapes. The issue addressed here is regarding the semi-rural communities, living in crumbling and rickety structures amidst an urban landscape.
The whole idea of Project Tapri is to provide a dignified, low-cost, lego-style temporary housing structure for these street dwellers. The cost of making the whole structure using wooden poles, pallets and tins is Rs.16100 covering a carpet area of 456 sq.ft. It can be assembled or disassembled in less than a day and can also be scaled up or down as per requirement.
